Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Supervision and Management (BAS-SM) Internships

To participate in a BAS-SM internship the student must have prerequisite credits and be currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Applied Science in Supervision and Management Program.  It is suggested an internship be taken in the student’s final term.

It is the student's responsibility to find an internship site, and the site must be approved by the faculty supervisor as part of the policies and provisions of the Internship program. Students are not placed at an internship site by the college.

PHSC values experiential learning as a key component to a student's undergraduate and career success. Internships, service learning, and extended volunteering can help students build confidence in their choice of major and career path. Experiential learning also helps students to become "career-ready" by developing the critical transferable skills that prospective employers seek in candidates across industries.

      BAS-SM Internships cannot be:

      1. virtual
      2. inside of a home-based business
      3. supervised by, site-owned or managed by a relative
      4. at the current company where the student is employed

For more information, contact Dr. Carolanne Kuntz via email at kuntzc@phsc.edu.

To participate in a BAS SM internship and enroll for the MAN4940 BUS Internship course, the student must have prerequisite credits completed in MAN 3353 and GEB 3213 and be currently enrolled in the BAS SM Program. The internship course should be taken in the second to last or last term, prior to graduation.  Approval by Dr. Kuntz or the Program Chair is the first thing that needs to be completed.

      1. The student requests an interview with the Faculty Supervisor Dr. Carloanne Kuntz via email at kuntzc@phsc.edu for MAN4940 BUS Internship, prior to the Spring and Fall deadline dates.
      2. If the student does not pass the interview, they are directed to take GEB4930, as an alternative course.

      5. If the criteria is met, the student will schedule a Zoom appointment with Dr. Kuntz to review how to fill out, sign and witness the other three forms.
      6. PHSC does not place students into internship sites. It is the student's responsibility to find their own internship site. Students can contact Jacqueline Eden in Career Services, regarding assistance with Handshake software.
      7. Student gives Business Partner Intern Request and PHSC Employer Intern Agreement to the employer, and ensures forms are signed and filled in correctly and delivered back to Faculty Supervisor, who will go through a vetting process to make sure the employer is not the student’s current employer, not in a home-based business, not a relative (or any other conflict of interest) and not a virtual internship.
      8. In the interim, the student and employer complete the employer interview process.
      9. Employer Signs Acceptance of Student Intern form, and student delivers form to Faculty Supervisor via email.

      11. Students must deliver all forms to Faculty Supervisor by their deadline date, or they will forfeit the internship.
      12. The Faculty Supervisor will send the student an e-mail to register for the course, once all paperwork is in and vetted.
      13.  Student registers for Internship course.
